This is a detailed introductory course for learners with little or no technical knowledge or experience of tile drainage design and installation. The course is designed to provide a thorough overview of the tile drainage design and typical installation process in a North American setting. Upon completion, learners should have acquired sufficient knowledge and understanding to undertake basic drainage system design, and/or be able to interpret, understand, and question drainage designs developed by third parties.
This is a fundamental introductory course for anyone seeking to learn the basic principles of how agricultural tile drainage functions, and how systems are designed. Featuring selected lessons from the full Tile Drainage Design Principles course, this course is targeted to those that aren't necessarily going to be installing tile drainage systems, and therefore may not need to learn in detail about topics such as material choices, installation techniques, and operating a drainage system. Instead, you'll focus upon the principles of system design, and leave the course with a good understanding of how a system should be designed, and be able to understand and critique designs made by third parties. Most learners will complete the course in half a day or less.
If you have completed the Fundamental Tile Drainage Principles course you can upgrade to the full course using this option. Note that you'll need to re-take the quizzes again in the lessons you took in the Fundamental course because the pass mark is higher and there are more (and more challenging) questions in the full course.
